How To Paint A Mirror Finish On Metal

Remember these mirrors from my chief bedchamber??

They started out a bronze colour, I painted them a super vivid gilt and used them similar that for a few years.

Just now that I'm painting that back wall a navy colour (I've decided which one…you'll simply have to await and encounter! ;) ), I thought it might exist dainty to mute them down a bit. I still wanted them gilded, just not that super bright gilt.

So I pulled this other aureate paint out of my stash and sprayed them. Simple and done!

OH! AND… they are going back upwardly to our primary chamber merely I accept all kinds of navy paint samples on the wall upwards there and then staged them here so you could see the new wait up on the wall.

It might exist hard to tell in the photos simply they are MUCH less brilliant and shiny.

But I gauge the bespeak isn't actually how they look in this photograph, but that I pulled those suckers down and gave them a brand new look instead of buying new. And it might not exist their last look…yous just never know around here!

Up close…

See how it's a piddling more than of a subdued, frosted gold look?? The other 1 was more of a tarnished, brilliant, shiny gold color.

Okay, so allow'south talk about the thrifty haul metallic mirror makeover…

I began past wiping it down so since it was metal I decided to use a "hammered" blazon of gold spray paint.
I don't know if you can tell in the photo only it has a really cool hammered metal look which is just perfect for this slice.

I become carried away when I'one thousand working on several projects at once and forget to have photos.
I forgot to accept a photograph of information technology simply gold before I did the aqua dry brushing. Simply this little section is still merely gold and then hopefully, you get the idea.

Once that was dry, I pulled out one of my chip brushes and ane of my pretty aqua colored paints and did a little dry brushing over it.

I didn't want to cover all the aureate and then I did it more than here and there.

Once the aqua pigment was dry, I gave it one calorie-free coat of poly. (in Satin)

I think information technology just gives it a more interesting look than just leaving it gilt. And mayhap fifty-fifty a picayune more loftier end.

I think it goes pretty well here but I exercise dear my other mirror (which has been made over multiple times likewise) then that i will stay.

By the way, my dresser is belongings up really well so far (information technology's been about a year and a half). I wanted to update yous on that. I haven't really noticed much if any, yellowing and the finish has been prissy and sturdy. You can read more near it, hither.
